Netta is a 2012 graduate of Paine College (Augusta, Georgia), holding a Bachelor of Arts degrees in English. While enrolled at Paine, she was active within the college community, serving as Treasurer (2009-10), President (2010-11) and Business Manager (2011-12) of the Paine College Pre-Alumni Council, Public Relations Coordinator for the Wesley Fellowship (2009-12), Resident Assistant (2010-11), Chaplain of the NAACP (2009-12), Vice President (2010-11) and Charter Member of Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society, Sigma Omicron Chapter (2012), and Senior Class President (2012).
She has also humbly served as the 2010-2011 Paine College Miss UNCF. Despite the weight of her many endeavors, God’s favor, grace and mercy allowed her to graduate Magna Cum Laude. She also served two consecutive terms as an AmeriCorps member through First 5 Riverside, was blessed to study abroad in Oxford, England, with extended travels to Greece and Ireland, built a lasting working partnership with Tillman Riverside Mortuary, Inc., has worked as a Mortgage Underwriter for leading firms such as Countrywide and Wells Fargo, and has served as Administrative Assistant to Reverend Julio A. Andujo, former pastor of Amos Temple CME Church.
As a dedicated servant of the Kingdom, Netta serves at Amos Temple CME Church (Riverside, California), under the tutelage of Pastor Marrix Seymore, Sr. In the past, she faithfully served as President of the Board of Christian Education, Secretary and President of the Young Adult Ministry, Coordinator for the Praise Dance Ministry, a Children’s Church and Rites of Passage instructor and member of the Usher Board, among many other duties. Netta has worn a number of different ‘hats’ but takes great pride in being the “girl next door,” sharing her gifts and loving God’s people to the best of her ability. With service also being a priority, she has also been a Junior Girl Scout Troop Leader (#20494), Boys & Girls Club Volunteer and Adult & Children Literary Tutor. In July, 2008, she was elected to a 4-year term as Secretary for the Connectional Young Adult Ministry of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, and was recently re-elected for another 4 years, to that same position on July 4, 2012. She is also the Vice President of Operations for Favor Carriers, Inc, where she is the editor of the soon-to-be-released book, Favor Carrier, written by Minister Jaquetta King and, and plans to pursue a Master’s Degree in English (January 2013), with a concentration in Composition and Rhetoric, from Georgia Southern University (Statesboro, Georgia). With a passion for Christ, education and children, Netta always rejoices in activities that are for the development, mentorship, and continued enhancement of God’s people, and seeks to be a light in a world filled with darkness.
In her time of leisure, Netta enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, experiencing the Fine Arts, journaling, traveling, cooking and, of course, eating chocolate!
Netta views her life as a mission of service. What others may view as a burden, she views as a blessing and opportunity to share God’s love. She radiates with an inner grace which only comes from the confidence in being a woman after God’s own heart, striving daily to be a woman of virtue (Proverbs 31).
