Larissa is a 2002 graduate of John Marshall High School. From there she went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Central Oklahoma. In December 2011 she received her Masters degree in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma and,  currently attends Langston University in pursuit of her 2nd Masters degree in  Disability Counseling and Rehabilitation Studies in May 2013.

At present, Larissa is one of the youth sponsors at St. John, leads Wednesday Night Youth Bible Study, member of her Young Adult Department serving as Chaplain, and was appointed Chaplin over the Youth and Young Adults of the Oklahoma District, by her Elder. Larissa was ordained in July 2013 under her Bishop,

 

  Larissa is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc,  and enjoys reading and  writing poetry. She would like everyone to know she is approachable and eager to serve as Chaplain for the Connectional Young Adult Ministry. She desires to show God’s people how present and  loving our God is and stands on Philippians chapter 3: 12-14, "I have not yet reached my goal, and I am not perfect, but Christ has taken hold of me. So I keep on running and struggling to take hold of the prize. My friends, I don't feel that I have already arrived. But I forget what is behind, and I struggle for what is ahead. I run toward the goal, so that I can win the prize of being called to heaven. This is the prize that God offers because of what Christ Jesus has done.”

Larissa Carter

Reverend Larissa Shalice Carter was born on June 6, 1984 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and  is the daughter of Peggy Dawson Carter.  She  attends  St. John C.M.E. Church  ( where she was born and raised)  in Spencer, Oklahoma  and is currently still a member under the guidance of her  Pastor Rev A.L. Walker.

 

Larissa first recognized the calling God placed on her life when she discovered God had always covered her in some form of ministry. Whether this was inside the church, in the Angel Choir, CYF Ministry or through outside ministries such as Spread the Fire, Young Life, and Youth for Christ. The realization that her life and ministry was not an accident but was purposed by God, has helped her embrace her calling. Larissa  first accepted her calling to preach at the age of 16 in Phoenix, Arizona  at the CME Leadership Training School, and has been preaching since the age of 18.
